Panthers Head To The West Coast For Showdown With UCLA On Saturday Night

GAME NOTES

LOS ANGELES -
The Prairie View A&M Panthers hit the road for a five-game trip which begins in the state of California this weekend as they'll face basketball power UCLA at 8 p.m. (CST) on Saturday night.
The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 network.

UCLA ironically played in Houston this past weekend as they're coming off a win over Texas at Reliant Stadium on Dec. 8.  The Bruins used a late surge to defeat the Longhorns 65-63.  The Bruins were picked to finish second in the Pac-12 Conference men's basketball poll.  UCLA finished tied for 5th last season in the Pac-12  with a 19-14 record.  This marks the first meeting between Prairie View A&M and UCLA since 2008.  The Panthers fell to UCLA  82-58 at Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 12, 2008.  UCLA leads the all-time series 1-0.

Senior shooting guard Jourdan DeMuynck leads the Panthers with 13.9 points per game and is pulling down 6.1 rebounds per outing.  Senior point guard Carl Blair follows with 10.8 points and leads the Panthers with 5.9 assists.  DeMuynck and junior post Jules Montgomery are natives of California with Montgomery growing up in the LA area (West Hills) while DeMuynck is from the Bay Area (San Leandro).  Blair also spent time in California as a youngster before moving to Texas for high school.
