Join the Prairie View A&M women's basketball team in the fight against cancer at their annual “Play 4Kay” game Monday night against Grambling State University. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Building on the Prairie View A&M campus as fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink.
Formerly known as the WBCA Pink Zone, the Play 4Kay initiative is a national program supported by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association that attempts to raise awareness of breast cancer on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will continue to be the official charity of the initiative.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink as the Lady Panthers will don pink uniforms and other accessories. Play 4Kay informational messages will read throughout the game in addition to fans receiving a commemorative pink game program. Some of the proceeds from the game will be donated to the fight against breast cancer.
“Many of us know somebody that has been affected by breast cancer and we are more than happy to do our part in raising awareness of this disease,” said Prairie View A&M Athletic Director Fred Washington. “We are looking forward to what should be a really special evening.”
Immediately following the women's game, the Panthers will hit the court to close out the doubleheader against Grambling State.
All of Prairie View A&M's SWAC contests will be broadcasted live on KPVU 91.3 FM with Leonard Moon calling the action. The station can be heard via the airwaves or Internet at www.pvamu.edu/kpvu. Smartphone and tablet users can also hear the game live by downloading the Tune-In application for their respective devices and selecting KPVU 91.3 FM.
The games will also be video streamed live through the PVPanthers.com website.
