Men's Tennis Loses Three Tournament Decisions

The Men's Tennis team dropped three-consecutive decisions in two days to fall to 0-6 on the season and lose out in the Prairie View A&M Invitational Tournament.

After starting the tournament off with a Thursday loss against Texas-Pan Am. the Panthers lost 7-0 to Xavier University of Louisiana on Friday then dropped a 5-0 decision against Abilene Christian on Saturday morning before losing to Bethany College 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

The play of Kristen Powell and the doubles team of Jonathan Dingle and Powell highlighted the weekend for Prairie View A&M. In singles competition Powell picked up the only Prairie View A&M win of the weekend, beating Alex Sandri of Bethany 7-5, 6-3. David Aldaz came close against Bethany's Shane Huggins in 7-5, 1-6, 8-10 loss.

The No. 2 doubles team of Dingle and Powell picked up the only doubles victory of the weekend for the Panthers. The victory also came against Bethany as Dingle and Powell got out on top of their opponents and held them off for an 8-5 win.

Prairie View looks to pick up its first win of the season as it plays host to Lamar on Feb. 18. Matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
