First Win Over SU Since 2009

BOX SCORE

BATON ROUGE, La. – Jasmine Littles drove in six RBIs as Prairie View A&M defeated Southern for the first time since 2009 in a 9-0 softball victory on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers claimed an early 1-0 lead in the third as Olivia Pace, who reached base via a double, scored on Leanna Flores' RBI single.  The lead increased to 2-0 in the fifth after Kelly Scruggs' RBI single which brought home Flores.

Prairie View A&M broke the game open in the sixth as Littles hit a three-run homer over the left field fence for a 5-0 advantage.  A bases loaded walk upped PV's lead to 6-0 which paved the way for Littles to add an exclamation point in the seventh as her 3-RBI double to right center scored the final three runs of the game.

Flores finished 3-for-4 followed by two hits each from Littles and Alisa Navarro.  Sophomore pitcher Cally Falls recorded the shutout with a five-hit, complete game performance.

The series concludes on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
