DENTON, Texas - The Prairie View A&M volleyball team dropped its season opener on Friday afternoon as North Texas claimed a 3-0 victory in the opener of the 2012 North Texas Invitational.
UNT claimed game one 25-13 before winning games two and three by identical scores of 25-11. The difference in Friday's match came down to errors as the Lady Panthers committed 27 attack errors and six service errors compared to UNT's eight attack errors. Offensively, PV finished with 21 kills while UNT recorded 37 kills.
Senior Bruna Menezes led the way for PV with nine kills while senior Breanna McNeil followed with six kills. Rachel Owens tallied a team-high 14 digs with 16 assists from Kelsey Espinosa.
The Lady Panthers hit the court at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday versus Lamar before returning for a 2:30 p.m. match against Missouri-Kansas City.
