Volleyball Takes Out MVSU In TSU Invite

The Prairie View A&M volleyball team found its footing Friday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Mississippi Valley State in the Texas Southern Invite to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Lady Panthers received a breakout performance by freshman right side Rachel Owens. She had 17 kills in 26 attacks with just three errors. Owens had a .538 attack percentage to lead the Lady Panthers. Senior right side and setter Breanna McNeil had 10 kills, 13 digs and three assists, while junior setter Monecia Preston and a team-high 19 assist.

Prairie View A&M came out of the gates fast, winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21. MVSU took a close third set 25-22, but the Lady Panthers dominated in Set 4 with a 25-15 performance to take the match.

Lady Panthers sophomore libero Shanice Faison continued her impressive defensive streak with a team-leading 15 dig performance to complement five assists.

Prairie View will try to get a win streak going in the TSU Volleyball Invite by taking down New Orleans in an 11 a.m. match before playing Texas Southern at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
