BOX SCORE
The Prairie View A&M soccer team, which has scored a combined nine goals in its last three games, continued its offensive surge with a 3-2 win over Nicholls Sunday in Thibodaux La.
The Lady Panthers got a two-goal performance by senior forward Yosselyn Aguilar, and freshman midfielder Ariana Roundtree kicked in her third goal of the season as Prairie View A&M got off to a fast start and held the Colonels off for the win.
Roundtree started off the goal extravaganza with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. Aguilar's goal in the 26th minute on a breakaway gave the Lady Panthers a 2-0 lead.
Nicholls' Janelle Brandom started off the second period with a goal three minutes in to cut the Lady Panthers' lead to 2-1 off of a Spencer Valdespino assist, but Prairie View A&M struck back just moments later.
In the 52nd minute Aguilar scored her second unassisted goal to give the Lady Panthers a commanding 3-1 lead, which was big enough to secure the win. Annie Newell scored a late for Nichols state on a penalty kick in the 80th minute, but the Panthers were well in control by then.
The Lady Panthers (2-5) look to keep their points streak intact as they prepare to take on Francis-Marion at 7 p.m. on Friday in Florence, S.C.
