After a rough stretch which featured four games in a nine-game span in three states, the Prairie View A&M Panthers resume their normal Saturday-Monday conference slate this weekend as they'll host Grambling State at 5 p.m. in the William Nicks Building.  The contest will be broadcast live on KPVU 91.3 FM immediately following the women's contest which begins at 3:00 p.m.

The Panthers have dropped six-straight contests dating back to Dec. 15 and are coming off a disappointing 65-60 loss to Texas Southern on Sunday night. The last time PV started 0-3 in SWAC play occurred during the 2007-08 campaign.

The shots have not fallen for the Panthers since SWAC play began as they're shooting only 33 percent as a team in league play while making only seven three-pointers. The team has improved its rebounding though as they're outrebounding teams by 3.7
Senior shooting guard Jourdan DeMuynck leads the panthers with 13.9 points per game and is pulling down a team-high 6.1 rebounds per outing. Senior point guard Carl Blair follows with 10.4 points and leads the panthers with five assists. Junior post Demondre chapman is coming off a monster game against TSU with 18 points and eight rebounds which pushed his averages to 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds.
Grambling State, which is not eligible for the SWAC Tournament due to NCAA restrictions this season, features a new head coach in Joseph Price. A former assistant at Lamar prior to Grambling State, Price has a huge task ahead of him as GSU has not had a winning season since 2005-06. Winless in 2012-13, the Tigers are led by guard Terry Rose as the freshman averages 16.2 points per game and has knocked down 44 three-pointers. On the boards, forward Bryant Purvis leads the way with 5.2 rebounds per game.
PV has won 9 of the past 10 games versus GSU since 2008. The Panthers swept the Tigers last season as the teams played in Dallas (GSU's home game) and Prairie View. panther head coach Byron Rimm II is 9-3 lifetime versus Grambling State and he has an all-time record of 53-24 in the Baby Dome. He's 21-1 in the dome versus non-conference foes and 31-23 against SWAC opponents.
Prairie View A&M closes out its three-game homestand on Monday, Jan. 14 as they'll host Jackson State at 8 p.m. The contest will be televised nationally by ESPNU as fans are encouraged to wear gold.
