PV Women's Basketball Hopes For Continued Success Vs. UAPB

The Lady Panthers are hungry for a win tonight against Arkansas-Pine Bluff after having their two-game winning streak snapped in a turnover-plagued game against Mississippi Valley State State on Saturday.

In recent history, the Lady Panthers have had outstanding success against the Golden Lions, setting season scoring records and a personal career-highs over the three seasons. Prairie View A&M third-year coach Toyelle Wilson is 4-0 against UAPB, and the Lady Panthers hope to keep that streak going in their 5:30 p.m. game at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Latia Williams, the SWAC's leading scorer at 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds will be of the highest priority to contain for UAPB coach Nathaniel Kilbert and his team. She missed Saturday's game with a foot injury and will be a game-time decision for tonight.

If Latia Williams cannot go, senior guard JaQuandria Williams and redshirt freshman guard Gabrielle Scott have proven to be viable scoring options for the Lady Panthers. The duo combined for 27 points in the Prairie View A&M's 65-57 loss to Mississippi Valley. JaQuandria Williams is averaging 11 points and 6.7 rebounds over her last three games, and Scott is putting up 11.5 points over her last four games. JaQuandria Williams scored a career-high 33 points last season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as did freshman guard Jeanette Jackson (29 points).

Defensively, Prairie View will not be able to just focus its energy on one person. UAPB has three starters that average over 10 points per game in Cassidy Wright (11.6 points), Chigozianyi Okwumbua (11 points) and Lakendra Marsh (10.4 points).
