The Lady Panthers enter the home stretch of the regular season riding a three-game winning streak. They look to keep it going at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday against Alcorn State in the William Nicks Building as coach Toyelle Wilson and the women's basketball team try to secure the No. 3 or the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.

Prairie View A&M (12-14, 9-7 SWAC) had multiple players step up in their recent sweep of both Alabama A&M and Alabama State on the road. Senior forward Latia Williams averaged 12 points and 9.5 rebounds during the two-game stretch and sophomore center Larissa Scott averaged 11 points and seven rebounds.

Finishing a regular season on a hot streak is nothing new to this group of players. At the end of the 2011-12 season, the Lady Panthers closed the regular season on a three-game winning streak and then ran the table in the SWAC Tournament. To accomplish a similar feat Prairie View A&M will have to defeat Alcorn State for the second time this season.

On Jan. 2, Prairie View A&M defeated the Lady Braves in convincing fashion with their 64-52 win in Alcorn State, Miss. In that game, Latia Williams scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds while senior guard JaQuandria Williams scored 14 points with two assists and two steals. Kiara Etienne also scored 12 points as the Lady Panthers picked up their first conference win of the season.

PV will fight for similar results as they go for the sweep versus Alcorn State. Containing shifty senior guard Carolinisia Crumbly and junior all-purpose forward Tierro Frost will be in the game plan. Frost scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed four rebounds the last time out against Prairie View A&M and Crumbly added 13 points and two steals.

The Lady Panthers have used their defense to determine the outcome of games. They have the SWAC's No. 1 scoring defense, allowing a league-low 57.1 points per game. In their last three games, they've allowed a minuscule 50.6 points. Prairie View A&M looks to keep that type of defensive presence intact as it closes out the regular season.

The regular season comes to an end on Saturday afternoon as Prairie View A&M will face Southern at 3:00 p.m. in the Baby Dome.
