Three members of the Prairie View A&M women's track & field team will compete at the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Round next weekend in Austin, Texas on The University of Texas campus. Myesha Dixon will compete in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump while Terracia Moody earned a spot in the 400. Sylvonna Thompson will also compete in the 400 hurdles.
Moody returns to the preliminary round for the third time in her career as she'll compete in the 400-meter dash. A native of Longview, Texas, Moody ran a time of 53.98 last weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. to qualify.
Thompson also returns to the preliminary round for the second straight year in the 400-meter hurdles. The Houston native ran a career-best time of 59.38 at the SWAC Outdoor Championship last month to qualify.
Dixon will compete in two events at the preliminary round as the Houston native will compete in both the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Dixon's personal-best time of 13.35 at the Texas State Invitational last month ranks as the 13th-best time in the region while her jump of 19-9.75 feet at the Texas State Invitational qualified her for the preliminary round.
The first round of the long jump takes place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. The first round of the 400-meter hurdles begins on Thursday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m. with the second round scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24. The first round of the 100-meter hurdles kicks off on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m. with the quarterfinals scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. The 400-meter dash kicks off at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 followed by the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 24.
