MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team close out the first half of SWAC play this weekend with its Alabama swing. The Panthers open up play at Alabama State at 5 p.m. on Saturday before heading to Huntsville, Ala. on Monday night.
ALABAMA STATE NOTES
The Panthers have won three of its past four but lost a prime opportunity to move a step closer towards second place as they allowed MVSU to rally in the second half for an 81-72 loss on Monday.
Since 2001, Alabama State has won 16-of-25 games against the Panthers. PVAMU has won four straight over ASU dating back to Jan. 28, 2012 and is in uncharted territory as the four-game streak marks the first time ever PVAMU has won that many in a row over ASU.
The Panthers have won the past two contests in the city of Montgomery, Ala.
PVAMU head coach Byron Rimm II is 8-6 lifetime versus Alabama State.
Junior guard Montrael Scott has averaged 23.5 points over the past two games and ranks third amongst SWAC scoring leaders this season.
