BOX SCORE PINE BLUFF, Ark.
– The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers found the back of the net early and often Sunday as they cruised to a 7-0 triumph over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Alicia Cooper and Debbie Arguelles each scored two goals, while
Khalisha Bond added a goal and an assist to lead Prairie View A&M (4-6-1) to its second straight victory.
With the win, the Lady Panthers remained undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play with three wins and one tie.
Cooper needed less than five minutes to open the scoring, as she took a pass from
Khalisha Bond and scored the opening goal four minutes and 49 seconds after the opening whistle. In the 25th minute, she found the net again, also off a pass from Bond. It was Cooper's fourth goal of the season.
Less than two minutes later, Arguelles converted a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season -- all during the Lady Panthers' four conference games. After halftime, Arguelles scored again, this time off a pass from
Shelby Moore.
After Arguelles' strike in the 50th minute, it was Bond, Moore, and
Nahuacalli Romo-Lara who found their way into the scorebooks, all netting their first goals of the season.
Carly Detter,
Brianna Brown, and
Kamra Brown all netted assists in the second half.
The Prairie View A&M defense gave goalie
Bianca Garza an easy day in goal, as the senior only had to make three saves on the day. The Lady Panthers outshot Pine Bluff 25-4 on the afternoon.
The Lady Panthers will play their next two matches on the road, as they travel to Mississippi for contests against Alcorn State on Friday and Mississippi Valley State on Sunday. Friday's game time from Lorman will be announced this week.
