MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Prairie View A&M dropped its fifth straight contest as Memphis controlled the tempo from start-to-finish as the Tigers claimed a 77-49 win at the FedEx Forum on Monday night.

The Panthers scored the game's first layup but it was all Memphis from that point as the Tigers went on a 15-2 run within the first seven minutes.  Layups by Nolan Wilson and Tre Hagood calmed the run and drew the Panthers to within nine at the 11:49 mark but Memphis was too powerful as they extended its lead to 24-9 following Pookie Powell's layup.  Hagood did his best to keep the Panthers within striking distance as he scored seven consecutive points in a span of a minute as his output along with a John Brisco free throw closed the gap to 31-21 with 4:04 remaining.

Despite the run, the Panthers struggled down the stretch as they were held to only two points in the final four minutes en route to a 38-23 halftime deficit.

The turnover bug struck the Panthers early in the second half as four turnovers within the first six minutes led to a 21-point (48-27) deficit.  Memphis continued to build on its lead from that point as they would lead by much as 33 en route to a 2-0 lead in the all-time series.

Hagood led the Panthers with 16 points and three steals but surprisingly had no assists as he took on an increased scoring role.  Brisco followed with 11 points and two assists while Charleston Dobbs led the way with six rebounds.

The 2014 Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational shifts to Las Vegas as the Panthers will face Stephen F. Austin at 8 p.m. CST on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday).
