2014 CONTINENTAL TIRE LAS VEGAS INVITATIONALThe Prairie View A&M Panthers close out the on-campus part of the 2014 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational at Memphis on Monday night. The four-game invitational began with the Panthers traveling to Baylor on Friday, tonight at Memphis before closing out the invitational in Las Vegas on Thursday and Friday against Stephen F. Austin (11/27) and either Brown or Austin Peay (11/28).
DOUBLE TAKEThere are several storylines for tonight's game that involve both Prairie View A&M and Memphis.
The first storyline contains senior Memphis Tiger Calvin Godfrey as the senior played last season at Southern University under new PVAMU assistant coach
Ryan Price. Godfrey transferred to Memphis this past summer as SU captured the SWAC Regular Season title last season before falling to PVAMU in the first round of the SWAC Tournament.
The second storyline features Price's return to Memphis as his father, Tic, served as the Tigers' head coach from 1997-99.
The final storyline involves current Memphis basketball coach Josh Pastner as he applied for PVAMU's vacant position back in 2002. Pastner is originally from Kingwood, Texas.
HONOR A FALLEN PANTHERHead coach
Byron Rimm II and the Prairie View A&M family lost a former Panther recently in former student-athlete Mayol Riathin. Riathin, who played for the Panthers from 2011-2013, died recently in a car accident which took place in the state of Wyoming. Riathin wore No. 33 during his tenure at PVAMU and the number will not be worn this season as it was originally assigned to
Nolan Wilson.
ALL-TIME SERIESThis marks the 2nd meeting all-time between Memphis and Prairie View A&M and the first since 1990. Mmephis holds a 1-0 mark in the all-time series as the last meeting took place in the old Mid-South Coliseum.
ABOUT THE PANTHERSPrairie View A&M returns four starters from last year's team which advanced to the finals of the SWAC Basketball Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Panthers also return a total of six letterwinners but lose a total of seven lettermen. Senior guard
Montrael Scott received first team preseason honors as the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the annual SWAC Men's Basketball Preseason poll.

Karim York ranks second in the SWAC with 6.5 boards and second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while Scott averages 15 points. Senior guard
Tre Hagood averages 8.3 points, six resounds and 4.8 assists.
