Men's Basketball Drops Road Decision To UAPB

BOX SCORE
PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Pine Bluff jinx struck again as PVAMU dropped its ninth consecutive contest in the city as the Panthers struggled from wire-to-wire in a 76-61 loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

UAPB led 8-2 early on but the Panthers rallied back and cut it to 8-4 on a pair of Demondre Chapman layups.  The Golden Lions pushed their lead to eight at 12-4 nearly a minute later but the Panthers again cut it to four on Chapman's layup at the 12:34 mark.  Baskets from John Brisco and Louis Munks over the next 1:07 saw Prairie View A&M fight to a 16-13 margin but UAPB's Marcel Mosley broke the game open with a pair of treys to key an 11-1 run and a 27-14 Golden Lion lead.

Chapman and Munks scored consecutive baskets to reduce the deficit to eight with 4:36 left but that would mark the closest PVAMU would get as they entered the half down 33-20.

The Panthers would fight to find themselves down 37-28 with 13:59 remaining but UAPB broke the game open as they put forth a 17-4 surge to lead 54-32 as nothing went right for the Panthers during that span.  PVAMU drew within 12 shortly before the five-minute mark but that would mark the final time they would have a chance at getting back into the contest as UAPB countered with an 8-0 run for a 20-point advantage.

Chapman had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds.  Munks scored 14 points followed by 11 from Montrael Scott.

The road trip comes to an end on Monday as PVAMU will face Mississippi Valley State at 7:30 p.m. in Greenwood, Miss.
