Softball Drops Midweek Doubleheader To UH-Victoria

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2
Prairie View A&M struggled on both ends of the diamond on Tuesday as University of Houston-Victoria claimed a doubleheader at the softball complex.

UH-Victoria scored seven runs in the first two innings as they cruised to a 16-4 win over the Lady Panthers in the opener.

With one out in the first, UHV hit a two-run homer for an early 2-0 lead and followed it up with five runs in the second for a 7-0 lead.  PVAMU cut it to 7-3 in the fourth as Peyton Simms, Alexandra Losoya and Jalen Morris logged RBIs but a error-prone seventh by PVAMU paved the way for a seven-run inning en route to the final score.

In game two, UHV recorded a six-run first inning and silenced PVAMU's bats en route to a 10-2 win.

A seven-hit first inning led to six runs by UHV but PVAMU answered with two runs in the bottom frame as Shontel Lopez drove in a pair of runs for a 6-2 decision.  UHV added a pair of runs in second and third frames while PVAMU struggled at the plate as they were held hitless over the final four innings.

PVAMU returns to action this weekend for a key SWAC series against Texas Southern on Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, March 29 at noon.
