Prairie View A&M's losing streak grew to five games after Saturday afternoon as Texas Southern swept the doubleheader by margins of 13-3 and 9-1 at the PVAMU Softball Complex.

Two big innings by TSU was the difference in the opener as they claimed a 13-3 victory.

TSU went up 1-0 in the third after an RBI double and upped its margin to 2-0 in the fourth with a sacrifice fly.  PVAMU scored its first run of the series in the fourth as Shontel Lopez hit an RBI single to bring home Brenicia Woods.  However, the rally stalled as TSU forced a strikeout and an inning-ending grounder.

With two outs in the fifth, PVAMU gave up a single and a walk which paved the way for a three-run homer by Brianna Parker for a 5-1 lead.  PVAMU fought back in the sixth as Jazmin Hicks and Peyton Simms hit RBIs for a 5-3 deficit but TSU broke the game open in the seventh with eight runs to pull away for good.

Cally Falls fell to 3-5 on the season with the loss while Lopez and Lexus Walker finished with two hits apiece.

Game two was nearly a mirror image of game one as TSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and never looked back in a 9-1 win.

TSU scored four quick runs to open the first inning and PVAMU struggled to recover from that point with only three hits over the next five innings.  TSU added another run in the fourth and crossed home four more in the sixth as the game was called via the run-rule in the sixth despite Alisa Navarro's RBI.

Samantha Arciba fell to 0-2 on the season while Tiffany Robertson led PVAMU with a 2-for-3 outing at the plate.

The Lady Panthers will have time off to regroup as their next game isn't until Tuesday, April 8 at University of Houston-Victoria at 1 p.m.
