PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored twice in the bottom of the seventh claim the opener of a critical three-game set against the Prairie View A&M softball team on Friday.

The Lady Panthers scored in the fifth for a 1-0 lead as Peyton Simms' sacrifice RBI scored Alexandra Losoya from third.  The lead held until the seventh as PVAMU committed an error to lead off the inning followed by a dropped fly ball in right field.  Despite the early miscues, the Lady Panthers picked up a force out at home followed by a strikeout from Cally Falls.  With two outs, UAPB hit a two-RBI single to claim the opener.

Rachel Rodriguez and Brenicia Woods had a pair of hits while Falls was credited with the loss despite a six-strikeout performance.

The series concludes with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
