Panthers Looking For Second Straight Win Tonight Versus Grambling State

Contest To Be Shown Live On SWAC Digital Network

PANTHERS LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN STREAK OF 2015
The opportunity to achieve its first two-game winning streak of the season awaits Prairie View A&M tonight as Grambling State visits the Baby Dome for a match-up that will be streamed live by the SWAC Digital Network.  Prairie View A&M stepped into the winner's column for the first time since Dec. 23 with an impressive 70-55 win over Jackson State on Saturday night.  The win marked the first time in series history that PVAMU achieved a four-game winning streak over Jackson State as senior guard Montrael Scott led four players in double figures with 15 points.

HONOR A FALLEN PANTHER
Head coach Byron Rimm II and the Prairie View A&M family lost a former Panther recently in former student-athlete Mayol Riathin.  Riathin, who played for the Panthers from 2011-2013, died recently in a car accident which took place in the state of Wyoming.  Riathin wore No. 33 during his tenure at PVAMU and the number will not be worn this season as it was originally assigned to Nolan Wilson.

THE SERIES
PVAMU has won 12 of the past 14 games versus Grambling State since 2008 but enters with a one-game losing streak to the Tigers as GSU shocked PVAMU 83-81 last season in the Baby Dome.  Since 1980, Grambling State has held the upper hand over the Panthers as they hold a 47-26 record.  PVAMU's Byron Rimm II is 12-4 lifetime versus Grambling State as this marks his first meeting against new GSU head coach Shawn Walker.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Prairie View A&M returns four starters from last year's team which advanced to the finals of the SWAC Basketball Tournament for the second consecutive season.  The Panthers also return a total of six letterwinners but lose a total of seven lettermen.  Senior guard Montrael Scott received first team preseason honors as the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the annual SWAC Men's Basketball Preseason poll.
Scott, who needs 28 points to surpass 1,000 points in his career, ranks second in the SWAC and leads the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game.  Senior guard John Brisco ranks 13th in the SWAC and second on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game while senior guard Tre Hagood follows with 9.3 points, 5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.  Junior post Karim York is the team's leading rebounder with 5.3 per game along with chipping in 9.5 points.
