Byron Rimm II and the Prairie View A&M family lost a former Panther recently in former student-athlete Mayol Riathin. Â Riathin, who played for the Panthers from 2011-2013, died recently in a car accident which took place in the state of Wyoming. Â Riathin wore No. 33 during his tenure at PVAMU and the number will not be worn this season as it was originally assigned to
Nolan Wilson.

Montrael Scott received first team preseason honors as the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the annual SWAC Men's Basketball Preseason poll. Â
   Scott, who needs 28 points to surpass 1,000 points in his career, ranks second in the SWAC and leads the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game.  Senior guard

   Grambling State ended a 31-game road losing streak as the Tigers beat Prairie View 83-81 on Monday night.
   It was Grambling's first win on the road since the 2011-12 season. The last time Grambling won twice in three games was also in 2012.
   The Tigers ended a 45-game Division I losing streak last Monday.
   A'Torri Shine scored 21 points to lead Grambling State (3-19, 2-11 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Chandler Thomas added 19, Tyron Bain had 12, Terry Rose 11 and 10 for Chase Comier. Grambling made 58.7 percent of its shots.
   Prairie View (8-16, 6-6) had won 13 of its last 14 games against Grambling and hadn't lost a home game to the Tigers since Jan. 13, 2007.

ROAD WARRIORSÂ Â Â In non-conference play, the Panthers have lived out their suitcases this fall as 12 of their 13 contests were away from campus. Â Prairie View A&M traveled to a total of four states (Hawai'i', Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee) and played in three different time zones (Central, Hawaii-Aleutian, Pacific).Â
   The team's lone non-conference home game took place on Dec. 3 versus Schreiner.
