PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers completed a sweep of their two-game weekend road trip Monday with an 83-66 win over Arkansas–Pine Bluff.
Jeanette Jackson scored a game-high 20 points to lead four Lady Panthers scoring in double-figures. The senior from Las Vegas, Nev., is now within 14 points of reaching 1,500 for her Prairie View A&M career. For good measure, Jackson also added six assists and five steals.
The win was the fifth consecutive triumph for the Lady Panthers (8-11), who are now 5-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
The fifth consecutive win also coincided with the strong inside play of 
Shamiya Brooks, who recorded her fifth consecutive double-double. Brooks, a junior from West Point, Ga., came off the Prairie View A&M bench to score 14 points and grab 12 rebounds.
Brooks was not the only Lady Panther to turn in a double-double; 
Alexus Parker also had a strong showing in the front court, scoring 16 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Parker also had five assists in the game.
Shaneece Stephens added 13 points for the Lady Panthers, matching her PVAMU career high set in Saturday's win at Mississippi Valley State.
Carlisha Walker scored 15 points to lead Arkansas–Pine Bluff (4-14). The Lady Golden Lions fell to 2-5 in SWAC play.
The Lady Panthers practically the entire game, save for the Golden Lions tying the score at 2-2 less than 100 seconds into the game. Prairie View A&M set the tone for the game early when the Lady Panthers jumped out to a 13-2 barely five minutes into the game.
Arkansas–Pine Bluff kept the game within single-digits for most of the contest; the Lady Panthers were finally able to put the game away with a 10-1 run between 8:02 and 4:14 marks that stretched their lead to 67-49.
The Lady Panthers helped their cause at the free throw line. Prairie View A&M players shot 90.5 percent (19 of 21) from the free throw line, topping 90 percent for the first time this season.
Chelsey Rosier chipped in nine points for the Lady Panthers, while 
Monique Abbs added seven points for Prairie View A&M.
Ajia Richardson scored 13 points for the Lady Golden Lions, while her teammate Diamond Richardson chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Panthers return home for their next two games, as they host Alabama State and Alabama A&M to round out the first half of SWAC play. Tipoff against Alabama State is scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
