BATON ROUGE, La. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers concluded their stretch of six matches in four days Monday with a four-set loss at Southern.

Scores of the match were 19-25, 25-16, 25-22, and 25-14.

Leila Lealaimatafao and Shauntia Carr knocked down 11 kills apiece for the victorious Jaguars (6-17), who improved to 3-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's West Division standings.

Prairie View A&M (4-21), saw its SWAC West Division record fall to 1-2.

MoKeysha Shanklin knocked down 11 kills to lead the Lady Panthers, followed by freshman middle blocker
Calli Jordan Hensch, who added nine kills. Hensch had a memorable evening in all facets of the match, as she led the Lady Panthers with a career-high 15 digs.

Ana Kiso handed out 35 assists for the Lady Panthers. Her teammates
Paige Chuidian and
Sydney Walker recorded 11 digs apiece.

The Lady Panthers took control of the first set with an impressive 13-1 run that turned a 9-7 deficit into a 20-10 lead. Prairie View A&M hit .194 (11 kills and five errors on 31 total attempts) in the first set, while Southern hit .000 during the opener.

The visitors were unable to maintain their momentum, as Southern took the next three sets. The Jaguars hit better than .100 in each of the last sets.

The Lady Panthers return to action Wednesday when they visit Austin for a non-conference match at Huston-Tillotson. First serve at Mary Branch Gymnasium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
