MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers left the state of Alabama winless after falling by a 3-2 scoreline at Alabama State on Sunday.

Ariela Lewis' second goal of the match in the 86th minute lifted the Lady Hornets (6-10-1, 6-3 SWAC) to the victory and past the Lady Panthers into fourth place in the Southwestern Athletic conference standings.

The Lady Panthers (8-7-1) fell into a three-way tie with Texas Southern and Arkansas–Pine Bluff for fifth place on the SWAC table with a 5-4 record.

Courtney Aleman (pictured)Â accounted for both of the Lady Panthers' goals Sunday, giving her the first two goals of her collegiate career.

Aleman opened the scoring in the 14th minute when her strike went off the hands of Alabama State goalkeeper Zaria Maynard.

After going into halftime trailing 2-1, Aleman leveled for the Lady Panthers at the hour mark with a strike from 20 yards out. Junior midfielder
Ashley Virgil provided the assist on Prairie View A&M's second goal.

Shelbi Vienna-Hallam opened the scoring for Alabama State barely a minute after Aleman's first goal of the first half. Lewis grabbed the lead for the Lady Hornets shortly after the half-hour.

The Lady Hornets controlled the pace of play for most of the contest, outshooting Prairie View A&M 15-5. Aleman's goal in the first half was the only shot on goal the Lady Panthers recorded.

The Lady Panthers close out the regular season Friday when they host in-state rival Texas Southern at Lady Panthers Field. The 2015 Bayou Derby is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
