GRAMBLING, La. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers swept the season series from Grambling State on Monday, defeating the Lady Tigers in three sets.
Scores of the match were 25-15, 25-21, and 25-10.
Only three days removed from setting career highs in kills and hitting percentage,
MoKeysha Shanklin exceeded those marks in the win over Grambling State. The sophomore knocked down 15 kills on 20 attempts and finished the match with a .650 hitting percentage.
The Lady Tigers also had trouble stopping freshman hitter
Randi Hunter, who put away 14 kills and hit .476 for Prairie View A&M, both of which also set campaign highs.
Prairie View A&M (7-22) improved to 3-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's West Division. The win was the third consecutive win for the Lady Panthers, giving the team its first three-match winning streak since 2012.
Tisharra Thompson added seven kills for the Lady Panthers.
Ana Kiso led the Lady Panthers with 25 assists, while
Kira Kirkham added 11 assists.
Paige Chuidian and
Sydney Walker led Prairie View A&M's defensive effort with eight digs apiece.
The Lady Panthers enjoyed one of their most consistent matches of the season, hitting over .300 as a team in each of the three sets.
Kiara Finley led Grambling State (9-19, 0-4 SWAC West) with six kills.
The Lady Panthers return to action one week from Monday when they visit Arkansas–Pine Bluff. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
