SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  Prairie View A&M dropped its third straight game as they fell to Bryant 71-58 in the 2K Classic on Friday. 

Prairie View A&M fell behind 9-2 to open the game, but was able to claw back in it and make the score 16-11 with 12:35 left in the opening stanza. The Panthers then allowed 14 unanswered points en route to falling behind 43-20 at the break.

The Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 38-28 in the second half – after Bryant pushed its lead to 53-29 with 14:40 left in the game – PVAMU responded with a 19-6 run that cut the deficit to 11 as Admassu Williams, Tevin Bellinger and Jayrn Johnson willed the team with key baskets to provide a spark.  However, PVAMU would go scoreless for two minutes and Bryant did just enough offensively to extend its lead and keep the Panthers at bay.

Williams earned a double-double for the Panthers, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds while Bellinger added 15 points.

Gus Riley led Bryant with 18 points. Dan Garvin scored 12 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Bosko Kostur also scored 12, and Hunter Ware chipped in 10 points.

The Panthers will close out subregional play on Saturday as they'll face Radford at 3 p.m.
