PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The men's and women's tennis teams of Prairie View A&M were among dozens of programs from historically black colleges and universities that will be featured on an episode the Tennis Channel's
Inside College Tennis with Tony Minnis. The episode will premier Saturday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
Inside College Tennis made a visit to the 14th Annual HBCU National Championships at Jonesboro, Ga., back in September. Prairie View A&M had several representatives from the men's and
women's teams advance far in the tournaments at the HBCU Championships.
The 30-minute show will feature HBCU coaches affiliated with the American Tennis Association, past ATA champions, and an update on the ATA permanent home and Black Tennis Hall of Fame.
While the focus is on the 14th Annual HBCU National Championships, the special features segments on the history of the ATA as well as a look into the next 100 years for the ATA. The ATA has partnered with the HBCU National Championships for the past 3 years and has recently developed the ATA HBCU Ranking System and the ATA HBCU All Americans.
Repeat airings of the HBCU episode will be shown Sunday, Feb. 15 (5:30 p.m.), Sunday, Feb. 22 (5 a.m.), Tuesday, Feb. 24 (5:30 p.m.), and Monday, March 2 (3 p.m.).
