CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Panthers headed down to South Texas on Monday for a pair of dual matches at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.
The host Islanders won both matches, taking the first contest by a score of 6-0, and the second contest by a 7-0 scoreline.
Prairie View A&M fell to 0-4 on the season. Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, ranked No. 60 in the NCAA's Division I by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), improved to 2-0.
With two matches to be played, the first match started with singles play, with the doubles point to be decided in the event of a 3-3 tie among the singles matches.
Ulrick Boyogueno's performance in flight four highlighted PVAMU's play in the early match. Boyogueno took four games from Arthur Bedel in the first set before falling in the match by scores of 6-4, 6-0.

Sergio Avella had the longest match of the day in flight three, competing well against Javier Pujol by scores of 6-2, 6-1.
In the second match of the day,
Christian Waldron was again matched against the Islanders' Ricardo Mayagoitia in flight one. In the rematch, Waldron and his opponent needed a tiebreaker game to determine the first set; Mayagoitia prevailed 7-6 and then claimed the match with a 6-1 victory in the second set.
Sergio Avella was moved up one flight into flight two singles for the second match, and took four games from Guillaume Rauseo in a 6-3, 6-1 decision for the Islanders' player.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Jan. 29, when they visit Baylor for a 6 p.m. match.
