The Lady Panthers complete their first round of conference games Monday at Alabama State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on the Alabama State campus.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lady Panthers claimed the lead for good early in the first quarter when Abbs knocked down a 3-pointer at the 8:36 mark of the first quarter to pull PVAMU ahead 3-2. The team then used a 10-2 run between the 4:52 and 1:05 marks of the opening period to claim their first 10-point lead at 18-8. The Lady Bulldogs scored the last seven points of the quarter to pull to within three.

Alabama A&M kept close with the Lady Panthers for the first half of the second period, cutting the deficit to 26-22 on Brooke Dixon's layup with 5:23 remaining. However, the Lady Panthers flexed their collective muscles from that point, finishing the half on a 12-3 run to take a 38-25 lead into halftime. PVAMU outscored the Lady Bulldogs 18-4 in the paint and 6-0 in fast-break points during the second quarter.

Prairie View A&M matched its largest lead of the game at 17 points when Lanikki McMillian drained a 3-pointer 23 seconds into the final quarter to stretch the visitors' lead to 55-38.

Alabama A&M went on a 7-0 run and cut the Lady Panthers' lead to 55-45 with 7:17 left to play in the game, but the Lady Panthers would not allow them to get any closer. A pair of baskets by Parker and McMillian between the 5:12 and 4:28 marks stretched the lead back to 14 points at 61-47. PVAMU's lead never dipped into single-digits throughout the second half.
