Lamaria Cole scored a career-high 26 points Monday, but it was not enough for the Lady Panthers as they fell 65-55 to Southern.

Briana Green came off the Southern bench to score a team-high 13 points for the Jaguars (4-7), who evened their Southwestern Athletic Conference to 1-1.

Cole scored her 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting (including a 3-of-4 showing at the 3-point circle), and made all five of her free throw attempts. She topped her previous career high of 24, set earlier this season in the Lady Panthers' win at Louisiana Tech.

Jeronia Allen scored 12 points for the Lady Panthers (5-6), who fell to 1-1 in league play.
Alexus Parker chipped in seven points, while
Larissa Scott scored six points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

The top scorers for each team, Cole and Green, each handed out five assists in the game. PVAMU's
Tori Carter chipped in four assists.

The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday when they make the short trip to Houston to face Texas Southern in the first game of a doubleheader. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED - The Jaguars outscored Prairie View A&M by a margin of 12-2 between the 6:48 and 0:51 marks of the fourth quarter, turning a 51-51 tie into a 63-53 lead.
- Southern forced 26 Lady Panther turnovers, 10 fewer than they committed. Seven of Prairie View A&M's 26 turnovers came on offensive fouls.
- Prairie View A&M trailed by as many as 10 points late in the first half, but the Lady Panthers fought back and outscored their guests 16-4 between the 1:11 mark of the second quarter and the 7:05 marks of the third quarter to take a 35-33 lead.
- The Jaguars got 10 points apiece from starters Britney Washington, Ashley Williams and Cortney Purnell in addition to the 13 points Green provided off the bench. Southern's bench outscored the Lady Panthers 28-0.
- Southern grabbed 16 offensive rebounds in the game and outscored the Lady Panthers 11-5 in second-chance points.

GAME NOTES
- The Jaguars won their fourth consecutive matchup against Prairie View A&M, dating back to the 2014 SWAC tournament semifinal game the Lady Panthers won 72-43.
- Junior guard Tori Carter recorded four assists in addition to scoring four points. Monday's game marked the fifth time this season she has handed out at least four assists.
- The Lady Panthers shot 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) from 3-point range while holding Southern to 3-of-15 shooting (20 percent) from behind the arc. The last time PVAMU lost a game when outshooting their opponents from 3-point range was Nov. 24, when the Lady Panthers lost a hard-fought 69-60 contest at TCU.
- The last time Prairie View A&M committed 26 turnovers at home was in the 2014-15 home finale, a 63-48 loss to Alcorn State.
- Larissa Scott, the nation's leading offensive rebounder, was held to only four rebounds on the offensive end, but grabbed 10 defensive rebounds. The last time she pulled in at least 10 defensive rebounds was exactly two years prior, when she grabbed 11 defensive caroms in a 14-rebound showing at home against Southern.
