GRAMBLING, La. – In Southwestern Athletics divisional play the Prairie View A&M University volleyball team fell to Grambling State in a 3-0 decision.
The Lady Panthers fell to Grambling by the scores of (25-17, 25-22, 25-19). In the opening set PVAMU led majority of the way until the Lady Tigers rallied back quickly to take the set 25-17.
The second set was a little more on the even side as both teams went back-and-forth knotting the game 11 times with the last at 22 all. The Lady Tigers, however put together a run to close out the set 25-22.
The third set was much like the first set, but Grambling managed to take control after a final tie at 11-all to take the set 25-19 and the match.
PVAMU was paced by sophomore
Britny Mitchell on the offense with nine kills, while
Christen Augustine handled the defensive side with 12 digs.
Mykaeli Franklin handed out 16 assists to lead both teams. Freshman
Victoria Pearson led the block party with five blocks (1 solo, 4 assisted).
The Lady Panthers will match up with Southern on Monday, night at 6 p.m. in Baton, Rouge, La.
