LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Prairie View A&M University volleyball team fell to McNeese in a hard fought battle, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cowgirls in the three-set affair Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers fell 3-0 by the scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 in the contest.
The opening frame saw one lead change and one tie through the set. Freshman
Hailee Morton tallied four of her team high nine kills in the opening set, but it wasn't enough as McNeese took the first set.
The middle set saw more competiveness as the lead changed once, but PVAMU remained pesky throughout the set, managing to knot up the score three times. The Cowgirls put together a rally to take the second set.
PVAMU came back from the break and built a quick three-point lead in the third set. The teams were knotted at 19-all, before McNeese managed to pull away and put together a 6-1 rally to take the final set and the victory.
Morton paced the Lady Panthers with nine kills, while hitting a season high .462. Sophomore
Erica Jimenez dished out 15 assists, while junior
Christen Augustine posted nine digs.
The Lady Panthers will return home to host Houston Baptist which is a rescheduled match from earlier in the season. The game is set to begin a 6:30 pm Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the William J. Nicks Baby Dome.
