PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Four seniors that were honored tonight that played in their final regular season home game, and the Prairie View A&M soccer team sent them out with a bang, shutting out rival Texas Southern in a 2-0 victory over the Tigers in Southwestern Athletic Conference action Thursday night.

Clarissa Ledesma were all honored tonight. The Lady Panthers also honored senior
Morgan Edwards of the Sports Medicine student staff.
"This was a great win for us," said head soccer coach
Abe Garcia. "It really feels good to get the win not only for our seniors, but against our rival team Texas Southern."
PVAMU got on the board in the first half at the 27
th minute mark, the sophomore
Diana Neff from Vista, Calif placed the ball high into the left corner of the net. Vargas assisted with the goal that set up the scoring opportunity.
In the second half it was freshman Jojo Bernal who did the scoring for PVAMU. This was her first collegiate goal. She was able to place the ball right out of the reach of the goalie's hand.
Goalkeeper Ledesma made two saves in her first half of play, but it was freshman
Alexis Espino, who will receive the credit for her second shut-out of the season.
"We are definitely happy about this shutout," said Garcia. "Our goal was to get better every time we played, there are definitely some things that we still need to work on prior to next week's tournament. Texas Southern is a quality team, and they fight. We have a lot of respect for their program, so we'll gladly take this win."
The Lady Panthers improve to 6-8-2 on the season, and 6-2-2 in SWAC play. The team will now turn around and prepare for the 2017 SWAC Championships starting Thursday, Nov. 2 here on the campus of Prairie View A& M University.
