PRAIRIE VIEW, - Texas – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team will play the second of three home non-conference contests scheduled at the William J. Nicks Baby Dome on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the Arlington Baptist Patriots.
The game will also be video streamed at pvpanthers.com/sportsnetwork, with live stats available at pvpanthers.com.
Prairie View A&M opened the season Friday with a 99-56 win over UT-Tyler. This is the first every meeting between the Lady Panthers and Patriots, who are playing their first game of the season.
"This will be another hard fought match," PVAMU head coach Ravon Justice said. "This team is a little different from UT-Tyler, but very similar. They are quick, and know how to get to the basket. They like to shoot inside and out, so I feel like this is going to be another challenging game for us. I am just glad we get to play it at home. It makes a difference and the fans help us a great deal."
Arlington Baptist University claimed their third straight NCCAA DII Women's Basketball National Championship last season. The Patriots have returned a majority of 2016-17 roster that was a part of that Championship Team, including junior Zayda Gonzales, who was named as the Tournaments Most Outstanding Player (averaging 24 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 3.5 assists) and also Player of the Year. Teammate senior Kayla Beattie also has returned.
