LAS VEGAS - The Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team lost at UNLV 98-63 Wednesday at the Thomas and Mack Center.
 
Zachary Hamilton scored a team-high 15 points and six rebounds to lead three Panthers in double figures. Gary Blackston scored 12 points and added four rebounds, and Shaquille Preston scored 10 off the bench with six rebounds and two blocks.
 
After getting off to a slow start, the Panthers scored 41 first-half points over the final 14+ minutes in a virtual tie with the Rebels. Hamilton's fast start led eight different players who scored in the first half.
 
A slow second-half start contributed to UNLV breaking the game open.
 
The Panthers return to action in the MGM Resorts Main Event Tournament Monday at 1 p.m. vs. Eastern Kentucky.
