LAS CRUSES, N.M. – The Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team lost at New Mexico State 69-57 Sunday.

Gary Blackston scored a game-high 19 points and just missed another double-double with nine rebounds, while adding two assists and three steals.
Dennis Jones scored 17 points and added three rebounds, and
Zachary Hamilton scored 14 points and had three rebounds for PVAMU (2-5).
The Panthers never led in contest, shooting just over 39 percent from the field (20-51), nearly 43 percent from three-point range (6-14), and 69 percent from the free throw line (11-16) in out-rebounding New Mexico State (6-1) 33-31.
After trailing by as many as 12 in the first half, Prairie View A&M battled back to cut the deficit to four at 32-28 at halftime on a layup by J.D. Wallace.
Early in the second half, Prairie View A&M twice cut the lead to two, the last occasion on a three-pointer by Hamilton to make the score 35-33 but would get no closer.
The Panthers return to action Wednesday at Hawai'i in an 11 p.m. CT game with a live radio broadcast on the PVAMU Sports Network.
