COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team lost at #7 Texas A&M 73-53 Saturday at Reed Arena.
Zachary Hamilton scored a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds. His second basket of the game gave Hamilton 1,000 career points to become the first Panther to achieve the feat since Montreal Scott during the 2014-15 season.
Gary Blackston scored 17 points and added five rebounds, and
Dennis Jones scored 10 and had a game-high four assists for Prairie View A&M (2-7).
After scoring first, the Panthers trailed by as many as 11 in the first half but PVAMU kept the deficit in single digits through most of the first 20 minutes.
Trailing 37-29 at halftime, Prairie View A&M made an early run. A 7-2 run, capped by a Hamilton three-pointer cut the deficit to 39-36 with 16:42 remaining. Following a Texas A&M basket, a free throw by Jones cut the PVAMU deficit to 41-37 with just over 16 minutes remaining. However, a 18-0 scoring run by the Aggies (8-1) broke the game open.
Prairie View A&M returns to action Thursday at Tulsa at 7 p.m.
