COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University baseball team lost 9-2 at Texas A&M Tuesday at Blue Bell Stadium.
The Panthers (1-9) got solid starting pitching from
Darrien Williams, who went five innings, three runs (two earned) with four walks and five strikeouts.
Trailing 1-0 after three innings, Prairie View A&M tied the score in the fourth.
Corbin Jamison led off with a single up the middle and stole second base. Following a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Macais which moved Jamison to third base,
Cody Den Beste walked. On a double steal attempt, Jamison scored as Den Beste was caught stealing.
The Panthers took the lead in the fifth inning.
Jalyn Baker singled through the left side to lead off the inning, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A
Tyler Gordon sacrifice bunt moved Baker to third base. With two outs,
Andrew Garcia singled to center field to put PVAMU ahead 3-2.
Texas A&M (7-1) tied the score with one run in the fifth, regained the lead with a run in the sixth, and extended the lead with three runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth inning.
Prairie View A&M opens a three-game series at McNeese State Friday at 6 p.m.
