Houston, Texas. -The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers fell short Saturday against the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern by a score of 73-51 at the HP&E Arena.

Jeronia Allen led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 16 points on 8-13 shooting.Â
Tori Carter stuffed the stat sheet, totaling 10 points, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals, while
La'Sha Haynes scored 10 points and pulled down a dozen rebounds.

Prairie View took an early 6-4 lead with 5:42 left in the first quarter, as  Haynes buried a pair of free throws.  There were four ties and six lead changes in the first 10 minutes of action, as neither team led by more than four points. The Lady Tigers took a 17-16 lead into the second quarter.
Texas Southern began the second quarter on a 12-0 run. But PVAMU would claw back into the game, thanks to timely baskets from Allen and Carter, the Lady Panthers stayed in striking distance, only trailing 28-22 at halftime.
However, the Lady Panthers struggled offensively in the 3
rd quarter, unable to connect on 10 of their 14 shot attempts in the period. Texas Southern capitalized outscoring the Lady Panthers 19-8, to take a 47-30 lead into the fourth.
The Lady Panthers will return to the hardwood on February 11
th at Jackson State for 5:00 p.m. tip, with a live radio broadcast on KPVU 91.3 FM.
