BOX SCORE 2 HOUSTON, Texas — The Prairie View A&M University softball team fell to Houston in doubleheader action on Friday evening after a rain delay.
Game 1, Houston 3, Prairie View A&M 0
In the top of the first, the Lady Panthers loaded the bases with back-to-back singles, but stranded all three after a pair of ground outs.
Houston struck first in the bottom of the first inning to get on the boards and then again in the fifth.
After an hour delay in the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Panthers had threatened once again in the final frame getting singles by Kelsey Coronado (1-3) and a sac bunt by Brooke Dibler who pinch hit for Natalie McLennon. Back-to-back ground outs ended the scoring potential as the Lady Panthers fell 3-0.
Game 2- Houston 7, Prairie View A&M 0
Shelby Williams was the only PVAMU player to get a hit in the game as Prairie View A&M fell to the Cougars.
The Lady Panthers will return to action on Friday March 17, when the open SWAC play at Jackson State in a 1 p.m. start.
