PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University baseball team again erased an early deficit but couldn't get over the hump in a 7-6 loss Saturday to Arkansas Pine Bluff at Tankersley Field.
Avery Williams went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI, and
Steven Williams went 2-for-4 to lead the Panthers at the plate.
Prairie View A&M (7-21, 3-5) trailed 5-0 before rallying in the fifth. Kevin Macais singled to lead off the inning, and
Andrew Garcia walked.
Avery Williams then doubled to right center, scoring both runners.
Xavier Jefferson and
Cody Den Beste walked to load the bases.
Avery Williams scored on a double play grounder, and Jefferson scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Trailing 7-4 in the eighth,
Jalyn Baker and
Tyler Gordon walked to lead off the inning. Baker scored on an error, with Gordon advancing to third.
Avery Williams' sac fly scored Gordon for the final margin.
