PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M soccer team will play its final match of the regular season Thursday when they travel to Texas Southern to face the Tigers for a 7 p.m. kick.

"This is going to a big match for us," PVAMU head soccer coach Sonia Curvelo exclaimed!  "If we pull off the results that we are looking for, that will put us as the third seed.  The players are really focused and they really want this game, especially going into the tournament.  I think we've done an excellent job from last weekend and in training this week to prepare us to get the result that we are looking for.  At the same time, we have to come out always to compete.  Our plan is to finish and that's what we will look to do."

Prairie View will enter Thursday's contest at 5-3-1 in SWAC play and 7-9-1 overall.  Texas Southern will come into the evening at 6-8-2 overall, and 6-2-1 in SWAC play.

The Lady Panthers are coming off a 2-0 weekend after defeating both Alcorn State (6-1) and Miss. Valley (3-0) at their respective facilities in SWAC action over the weekend.

PVAM will look to gain position in the SWAC standings, as the SWAC Tournament is just around the corner.  The leagues' top eight teams will advance to the tournament, which will be hosted by the Lady Panthers November 1-4, with the winner to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Soccer Tournament.

A PVAMU win over Texas Southern assures PV the #3 seed.  With a Prairie View tie or loss plus an ASU/AAMU tie will make the Lady Panthers, the #4 seed.
