LEBANON, Ill. -- On the concluding day of the McKendree Hammer Open the Prairie View A&M bowling team finished 14
th overall among some of the nation's top teams.
"I'm really very proud of how the ladies performed overall this weekend," said head PVAMU bowling coach
Glenn White.  "We not only went up against some of the top competition in the country, but also considering a very disastrous travel day on Thursday that resulted in the team only getting 3 ½ hours of sleep prior to beginning competition on Friday. They responded tremendously like warriors to finish the first two days with a 3-2 win/loss record, especially being such a young team competing in their first collegiate event. I believe they eventually ran out of gas on Sunday."
The team finished with a 6-7 overall record, while tallying a total pin count of 11,583. Freshman
Crystal Cline finished in the top 10 in individual play out of a 100 bowlers. Bowling a total pin count of 1,064, with her best game a 276, averaging a score of 212 per contest. Â
"I am very, very proud also of Crystal and her performance throughout the tournament. Â Now we'll begin preparation for this coming weekend's competition at Sam Houston's tournament in Houston."
The freshman was named to the All-Tournament team among three of the champion winners of the tournament University of Nebraska, runner up Vanderbilt (2), and third place finishers the host team McKendree University (1).
PVAMU opened the day with a 4-1 loss to Valparaiso University (180-168, 147-171, 144-213, 135-190, 169-230) in the Championship bracket. The Lady Panthers later fell to Drury University 4-0 (189-203, 164-176, 159-168, 171-140), before falling to Lewis University 4-3 (189-201, 212-168, 156-180, 179-157, 152-144, 131-167, 160-172).
Â
