BEAUMONT, Texas - The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team got to within one point of the lead late before falling at Lamar 74-67 Saturday.

Devonte Patterson led three Panthers in double figures with a game-high 20 points, along with six rebounds.
Gary Blackston scored 14 points and had five rebounds, and
Gerard Andrus 12 with seven boards for PVAMU,

Trailing by 11 in the second half, the Panthers cut the lead three on four different occasions before making it a one-point game. Back-to-back layups by Andrus cut the PVAMU deficit to 63-62 with just over two minutes remaining.

After four straight points by Lamar, a three-pointer by
Taishaun Johnson cut the deficit to 67-65 with 1:04 remaining but Prairie View A&M could get no closer.
