HOUSTON – On the second day of the Track Kat Klash, the Prairie View A&M bowling team finished in 13
th among some of the nation's best at Emerald Bowl in Houston.
"We are struggling right now with two starters down," head PVAMU bowling coach
Glenn White said. "We will try to tough it out tomorrow and see if we can pull up in the final standings."
Freshman
Crystal Cline finished in the top 20 out of a field of 125 bowlers for PVAMU with a total pin fall count of 980, while averaging 196 per game. Senior
Alexes Burton is 40
th among all bowlers with a pin fall of 901. Redshirt junior
Jada Davis also sits in the top 50 with a pin fall of 857.
As a team the Lady Panthers tallied a pin count 8,574 and are ahead of SWAC rivals Texas Southern (8,563), Southern (8,502), defending SWAC champs Alabama State (8,224) and Alabama A&M (7,452).
The Lady Panthers opened the day in traditional play against Southern falling 941-770, before capturing their first win over #25 ranked Texas Southern by the pin count of 839-790.
PVAMU won their second match over Alabama State 880-830, before falling to #3 ranked Nebraska 996-9 16. The Lady Panthers closed out the day dropping a match to #23 ranked Manmouth by a narrow margin of 862-853.
Prairie View will return to action Sunday in the championship bracket round when they face the Tigers of Texas Southern at 9 am.
