ARLINGTON, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Bowling team will host a highly competitive event over the weekend at the ITRC (International (Bowling) Training & Research Center) starting with the first pin roll at 12:15 p.m.
The three-day event will field 12 teams, which are the best of the best in the nation including; #1 Nebraska, #2 McKendree, #3 Arkansas St., #5 Sam Houston St., #6 Vanderbilt, #7 Stephen F. Austin, #8 Maryland Eastern Shore, #10 Fairleigh Dickinson, #12 Sacred Heart, #17 North Carolina A&T, #19 Louisiana Tech and host team #25 Prairie View A&M.
Friday competition will begin with five sets of 5-game baker matches (total pins). Saturday's matches will begin at 9:25 a.m. with traditional team games and conclude on Sunday with one traditional game beginning at 8:25 a.m. There will also be two-baker game stets, the best 4-7 format beginning approximately at 9:50 a.m.
The Lady Panthers last competed the weekend of January 19-21 at the SWAC West Round-Ups. Prairie View finished third overall with a record of 8-4, finishing behind first place Texas Southern and Jackson placing behind the Tigers. As a team, they totaled a pin count of 12,208 and averaged 174.4 per game.
Veronica Prior finished the weekend as the number one freshman. She tallied a pin count of 2,352 out of 13 games played. Her final average was 180.9 for the weekend, as she posted a PVAMU game high of 236.
Kayla Marsh was also amongst the top freshman, finishing the weekend ranked eighth with a total pin count of 1,276 after only eight games. She ended her weekend posting a PVAMU career high game of 196, averaging 159.5 per game.
The Lady Panthers had four players to finish in the top 20 out of a field of 48 on the conclusion of the round up. The players are ranked according to their average. Prior led all PVAMU bowlers with a sixth place finish, while
Alexes Burton concluded her weekend with a total pin count of 2,504 and an eighth place finish. Burton averaged 178.9 per game and posted a season high of 216.
Lindsay Paredes finished ninth after bowling a total pin count of 2,318 participating in 13 games. She scored a season high of 243, while averaging 178.3.
Katelyn Dickerson finished the weekend at the 20th spot with a total pin fall count of 2,406, averaging 171.6 after bowling 14 games. She posted a season high of 222.
