PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - After being delayed due to rain last weekend, the 2018 Prairie View A&M softball team will open the season at the UTSA Classic, hosted by the University of Texas San Antonio this weekend, Feb 16-18.
Prairie View closed their 2017 campaign as one of their best seasons since 2011. The team finished with an overall record of 20-28 and was 11-7 in conference play finishing the season tied for fifth.

Vernon Bland was named 2017 SWAC Softball Coach of the Year along with starting pitcher
Ashley Higgins being named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lady Panthers also had six ladies to be named to the All-Conference 1
st and 2
nd teams.
The first pitch for the Lady Panthers will be on Friday, Feb. 16, when they face Missouri State at 9 a.m. and Kansas starting at 2 p.m. On Saturday PVAMU will face Lamar for a 9 a.m. matchup and later in evening they will play host team UTSA at 4:30.
The games will conclude on Sunday, when the Lady Panthers play UTSA in their final matchup of the weekend.
