DENTON, Texas - On the first day of the North Texas Schutt Classic the Prairie View A&M softball team fell to Creighton 5-0 and host team North Texas 7-0 at the Lovelace Stadium.
Saturday - Game 1
Creighton 5, PVAMU 0
Although the Lady Panthers didn't score, they were able to post six hits by six different players. Â
Shelby Williams,
Gabrielle Fonseca,
Alyssa Garcia,
Kylar Ward-Flowers,
Laurisa Hernandez and
Amanda Ford each had a hit, but weren't able to capitalize on them.
Vannessa Castro suffered the loss, striking out three batters after pitching six innings.
Saturday - Game 2
North Texas 7, PVAMU 0
???????PVAMU was able to get four hits in, but were unable to score the five stranded players. In this outing Hernandez had two hits, while both
Brianna Grays and
Samantha Martinez posted a hit apiece.

Sunday - Game 1
Creighton 9, PVAMU 5

Creighton jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the top of the first, but the Lady Panthers were able to post a run before the inning was over. S. Williams opened the frame with a walk, before
Keona Hunter's sac bunt advanced S. Williams to second. S. Williams advanced to third on a passed ball. With two outs, D. Williams singled to the short stop scoring S. Williams, before the Lady Panthers inning ended making the score 2-1 in favor of the Bluejays.
 Creighton scored another run in the top of second to advance their score 3-1. The Lady Panthers wouldn't go away so easily as they scored two more runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 3-all. With two outs,
Kiara Ross doubled down the right filed line to open up the scoring frenzy for the Lady Panthers.Â
Samantha Martinez was hit by pitch holding a spot on first base. S. Williams singled to left field, advancing to second on the throw and scoring Ross, placing Martinez on third. At her second at bat Hunter singled to left field, advancing to second on the throw scoring Martinez in the process, before the frame was ended on a pop up.
The Bluejays scored another run in both the fourth and fifth innings. The pesky Lady Panthers scored again in the bottom of fifth frame on a
Laurisa Hernandez' homerun to left center before the inning was ended to make the score 5-4 in favor of Creighton.
 The Lady Panthers scored a final time in the bottom of the sixth, after allowing the Bluejays to place three more runs on the board to lead PVAMU 8-4.Â
Alyssa Garcia capped off the inning with a single to right field, before Ross grounded out to advance Garcia to second on a sac bunt. With two outs S. Williams tripled to center field scoring Garcia, before time ran out for the Lady Panthers and they weren't able to score again, with the game wrapping up in the seventh as Creighton scored for a final time to take the win.

Sunday - Game 2
North Texas 3, PVAMU 2
The Lady Panthers had a slow start as they had five scoreless innings, allowing the Eagles to take a 2-0 advantage. In the top of the sixth on a D. Williams walk to open the frame for the Lady Panthers, followed by a Hernandez walk, advancing D. Williams to second.Â
Brianna Grays walked to load the bases for
Daneisha Hinton, who singled up the middle scoring D. Williams.
PVAMU scored again in the final frame on a
Kelsey Coronado homerun to right center in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2 before North Texas scored the winning run.
The Lady Panthers will return to action when they open play at home hosting Northwestern St. for a double header beginning at 1 p.m. at the PVAMU Softball Field, on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
