ARLINGTON, Texas – The 25
TH ranked Prairie View A&M Bowling team had a 10
th place finish with an overall record of 3-10 in a field of 12 of the nation's top ranked teams on the final day of the Prairie View A&M Invitational at the ITRC Sunday.
Although McKendree University had a 7-6 overall record, they were crowned the champions of the overall event after the final rounds of Sunday's championship bracket after defeating #3 ranked Arkansas State.
Arkansas State had the best overall record, but they finished behind McKendree with a 10-3 record, Sam Houston was third (8-3), Vanderbilt University was 7-6 (4
th), Stephen F. Austin (5
th) went 6-7 with a tying record with Sacred Heart (6
th). The University of Nebraska, Lincoln (8-3) finishing in seventh, in front of Fairleigh Dickinson (7-6), while North Carolina A&T was 5-8 and finished ahead of the Lady Panthers.
Maryland Eastern Shore had a 7-6 record and finished in 11
th, while Louisiana Tech rounded out all the teams with a 4-9 record and a 12
thplace finish.
Katelyn Dickerson completed her weekend in the top 25 in individual play with a total pin count of 1,277 and a 19
th place finish.
Alexes Burton finished in the top 50 with a 37
th place finish and a total pin count of 1,145, while
Kayla Marsh was 45
th in the individual standing with a total pin count of 1,055.
The Lady Panthers opened the day with a bye, competing in their first round against #8 ranked Maryland Eastern Shore taking a 4-3 win moving them up in the rankings. PVAMU fell to #17 ranked North Carolina A&T 4-1 in Sunday's final round.
Prairie View will take a week off as they prepare for the SWAC East Round-Up in D'Iberville, Miss., Feb., 16-18.
