PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Prairie View A&M baseball team lost game one of its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Arkansas Pine Bluff 4-3 Friday afternoon at Torii Hunter Park.
The Panthers scored first in the sixth inning. With two outs,
Jalyn Baker singled to right field, and advanced to second on a passed ball.
Daniel Lingua's single to center scored Baker for a 1-0 lead.
PVAMU (5-16, 3-7) added a pair of runs in the ninth. Lingua singled to lead off the inning, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Following a
Steven Williams' walk,
Andrew Garcia's infield single loaded the bases.
Avery Williams then singled through the left side scoring Lingua.
Tyler Gordon's bunt single scored
Steven Williams to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
However, Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8-12, 5-5) took advantage of a pair of Prairie View A&M errors in scoring four runs in its final at bat to win.
Lingua and Garcia each had two hits for the Panthers.
Game two of the series is Saturday at 2 p.m., with game three Sunday at 1 p.m.
