PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Prairie View A&M University softball team fell to University of Arkansas Pine Bluff 4-3 on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers scored first in the opening inning, registering one run on three hits.
Alexis Freeman doubled to center field, advancing to third base on a
Alyssa Garcia single.
Kelsey Coronado singled into left field, which allowed Freeman to score and make the score 1-0.
UAPB added three runs in the fourth inning to make the score 3-1. PVAMU added one run on a pair of hits in the top of the fifth.
Shelby Williams singled into centerfield advancing to second base in the same segment. Freeman singled to right field, which brought Williams home from second base. At the end of five innings the UAPB led 3-2. UAPB added a run in the bottom of the sixth to give themselves a two run lead.
In the top of the seventh the Lady Panthers tried to rally, but came up short scoring one run, on one hit and leaving runners stranded to end the game.
The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday for an afternoon doubleheader with the first pitch for game one scheduled for noon.
